Man dies in multi-vehicle accident

One person died and two others were hospitalized in a multiple vehicle accident that closed Cornell Road at 48th Avenue for three hours last Thursday.

According to Hillsboro Police Department spokesman Lt. Mike Rouches, Humberto Aguilar-Aguilar, 52, died at the scene from a medical emergency that triggered the accident.

Two women were transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. Their names were not released.

Rouches said at 5:40 p.m. Oct. 3, Aguilar-Aguilar was driving his white 2001 Chevrolet pickup truck west on Cornell approaching 48th when he suffered some sort of medical emergency and lost control.

The truck crashed into a 2004 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV driven by a 38-year-old Hillsboro woman who was driving westbound on Cornell at 48th. That crash started a chain reaction that caused five other cars to collide.

The intersection was closed for three hours while the accident was investigated by the Washington County Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team.
