Aloha-Reedville sessions gather advice

Several community meetings on the future of Aloha and Reedville are planned for October and November.

The meetings will give area residents an opportunity to discuss draft proposed actions for the two unincorporated areas that have grown out of the Aloha-Reedville Study and Livable Community Plan being conducted by Washington County.

They are based on more than 5,000 public comments received by the study team so far.

The forums are intend to answer one question: “Will these actions move Aloha and Reedville forward in a manner you can support?”

The schedule is follows:

? Friday, Oct. 25, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Westside Community Church, 18390 S.W. Farmington Road, Aloha. This is a Spanish language event.

? Tuesday, Oct. 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Reedville Elementary School, 2695 S.W. 209th Avenue, Reedville.

? Thursday, Nov. 14 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Willow Creek Campus, Portland Community College, 241 S.W. Edgeway Drive, Hillsboro.

The Aloha-Reedville study area is in unincorporated Washington County between the cities of Beaverton and Hillsboro. It is mostly residential, with many well maintained and affordable neighborhoods. Employment is generally located along the Tualatin Valley Highway, 185th Avenue and Farmington Road.

The study is a three-year effort being jointly undertaken by Washington County’s Department of Land Use & Transportation and Department of Housing Services. Primary objectives are to understand the existing conditions within this mostly unincorporated area, and to develop a community plan to attract investments and be better prepared to accommodate the jobs and housing that regional growth will bring. The study is in its final year.

Those who cannot attend one of these community events may provide input through the project website: co.washington.or.us/alohareedville.
