Police identify deceased pedestrian

A woman struck by a car Nov. 21 in Hillsboro has died.

Lt. Mike Rouches, spokesman for the Hillsboro Police Department, said the deceased pedestrian has been identified as Maria Acuna De Vice, 67, of Hillsboro.

According to Rouches, on Nov. 21 at 3 p.m., Hillsboro police responded to the intersection of Southeast Tenth Avenue and Baseline Road after a report of a pedestrian-versus-vehicle accident.

Officers discovered an unidentified woman had stepped off the curb against a red light and into the path of a passing 2011 Toyota 4-Runner traveling at approximately 10 mph.

The SUV struck the woman, who was then knocked to the ground.

The woman, who was not carrying any identification, was transported to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland, where she was listed in critical condition. She passed away three days later.

“She did die as a result of her injuries on Nov. 24,” said Rouches.

Hillsboro Police and Legacy Emanuel Medical Center had initially called for the public’s help in identifying a “Jane Doe” after the accident.

“Her daughter identified her on Nov. 23,” said Rouches.

The driver of the car, Jessica Izquierdo, 29, of Hillsboro, was not issued a citation by Hillsboro police.
