Trio feted with 'Star of Life' award for service

Three employees of Hillsboro-based Metro West Ambulance employees received 2014 “Star of Life” awards in Washington, D.C., March 25.

Emergency Medical Technician/Paramedics Spencer Oliver and Robert Conrath, as well as EMT Mike Rainey, were honored for demonstrating “the dedication of ambulance services professionals who epitomize the spirit and commitment of emergency services and who make a difference every day,” said Jan Lee, public information officer for the ambulance company.

The American Ambulance Association (AAA) honored award recipients from across the country with three days of celebration, education and advocacy in the nation’s capital. “Star of Life” is the highest honor bestowed nationally by the AAA.

Oliver, Conrath and Rainey were nominated “because of their dedication to improving EMS on a local level and their passion for training,” said Lee. “These three are being recognized nationally for their work as Field Training Officers and their dedication to molding the future of emergency medical services.”
