Glencoe's robot seizes first place

Glencoe High School’s Team Shockwave robotics team won its FIRST Robotics competition in Wilsonville March 21-22.

Shockwave is again the top-ranked team in the Pacific Northwest, and is ranked 14th in the nation for its “Offensive Power” rating.

In addition to winning the competition against 34 other teams, Shockwave also won the Industrial Design and the Hardhat Safety awards.

Team Shockwave next competes at the FIRST Robotics Pacific Northwest District Championship April 10-12 at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland.

Admission to the event is free.

The team has its sights set on attending the FIRST World Championships in St. Louis, Mo., April 23-26. Shockwave has nonprofit tax status and is accepting donations to offset its travel costs.
