Young actors present comic mystery

For three weekends in January, young actors at Stages Performing Arts Youth Academy will present “Miss Nelson is Missing.” Opening weekend is Jan. 10-12. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. When their nice teacher, Miss Nelson, disappears and is replaced by a detention-loving, recess-canceling substitute, her unruly students want Miss Nelson back and attempt to solve the mystery of her disappearance. The play also runs Jan. 17-19 and Jan. 24-26. Performances are at HART Theatre, 185 S.E. Washington in Hillsboro.

Ticket prices are adults $11, students and seniors $9. More information and tickets are available online at stagesyouth.org.

OMSI’s Sherlock Holmes to close soon

The interactive experience that transports museum visitors into Sherlock Holmes’ London to solve a crime closes Sunday, Jan. 5.

Developed in collaboration with the estate of author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and the Museum of London, “The International Exhibition of Sherlock Holmes” features original manuscripts, period artifacts and investigative tools influenced and used by Sherlock Holmes.

His practices and techniques, created in the mind of doctor-turned-author Doyle, encouraged a change in the way police conducted investigations and are still used today.

The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry is located at 1945 S.E. Water Ave. in Portland.

Tickets are $18 adults, $13 youth and senior. The price includes entry to the museum.
