Artists launch networking and support group in Hillsboro

A group of artists, writers, small businesses and supporters of the arts in the Hillsboro area have formed “Creative Hillsboro,” a networking group. The events are designed to build creative momentum and contacts, and share creative mediums.

Professionals, amateurs, hobbyists, beginners and anyone who appreciates the arts and creativity are welcome. Attendees don’t need to live or work in Hillsboro. The group is for adults only.

The group will meet the first Monday of the month — March 3, April 7 and May 5 — at Primrose & Tumbleweeds, 248 E. Main St. in Hillsboro. Drop in anytime between 5:30 and 9 p.m. with your low-odor, not-too-messy projects.

On the second Monday of the month — March 10, April 14 and May 12 — the group will meet for interactive conversations about how to make Hillsboro a more welcoming place for artists and creative people from 7 to 9 p.m.

HACC offers class to grow audience

The Hillsboro Arts & Culture Council will host presenter Trisha Mead as she discusses cultivating audiences.

The workshop will show how to leverage the power of partner organizations to grow audiences one project at a time; using the built-in loyalty that people have to existing civic and social organizations to create compelling invitations; build mutually beneficial relationships with partner organizations; design the return invitation to convert that one time new audience member into a lifetime supporter; and much more.
