Big scoring plays send Liberty to big victory over visiting Milwaukie
Make that three in a row for the Liberty football team.
Led by senior running back Matthew Langbehn and sophomore quarterback Blake Walker, the Falcons picked up their third win of the season last Friday, a 29-12 conquest of Milwaukie at home.
With the win, Liberty moved to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the Northwest Oregon Conference standings heading into tonights matchup at reigning state champion and unbeaten Sherwood.
Last week, the Falcons showcased their big-play capability, with all of their touchdowns coming on plays of at least 40 yards. Walker threw for his two touchdown passes in the middle of the game to open up some breathing room on the Mustangs. The first of those tosses went to Langbehn for a 73-yard score and put the Falcons up by a margin of 15-8.
After the half, Devin Kaneshiro made the big special teams play when he rumbled 76 yards on a kickoff return for a score. Walker followed that up with a 41-yard scoring strike to Greenlee to put the Falcons up 29-6 heading into the fourth quarter.
Milwaukie scored its second touchdown of the contest in the fourth quarter, but it was not nearly enough to stage a comeback against the Falcons.
Nick Bonat also scored for Liberty, giving the home team its first points of the game on a 54-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter.
