“The auction grossed over $235,000,” said Ken Cowdery, HBF executive director. “This is $90,000 higher than last year and the highest in the auction’s 16-year history.”

U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden attended the auction’s VIP reception and Cowdery was pleased to learn that he would be visiting the HBF’s upcoming renovation of the Goose Hollow Family Shelter when it begins this summer.

Portland Mayor Charlie Hales provided welcoming remarks and Portland Commissioner Nick Fish and Beaverton Mayor Denny Doyle were also in attendance. Fish provided commentary on the auction video about the role HBA members play in building and renovating shelters and transitional housing throughout the community. The video can be viewed on the foundation’s website, buildhopepdx.org.

The mission of the HBF is to build transitional shelters for families and individuals experiencing homelessness in the community and provide construction-related educational opportunities for individuals interested in pursuing a career in the homebuilding industry.
