Learn about companion planting, rotation for veggie garden

Darren Morgan of Shonnard’s Nursery will present the program at the Clackamas County Master Gardener chapter meeting to be held at 7 p.m. March 10 at Milwaukie Center, 5440 SE Kellogg Creek Drive, Milwaukie. Morgan will share tips on how to improve yields with less work. Inter-planting and companion planting use the natural aspects of some plants to repel insects and diseases, balance nutrient use and otherwise encourage plants to grow.

The meeting is free and open to the public.

Holmes honored at WIN annual conference

Simon Holmes of WIN Home Inspection Tigard was honored at WIN Home Inspection’s annual conference for his 20 years of service and outstanding performance in 2013. One of WIN Home Inspection’s top inspectors, Holmes serves Portland and its surrounding areas including Lake Oswego and West Linn.

Holmes was one of two WIN franchisees honored at the conference for 20 years of service with the company. He was also recognized with a President’s Circle Award for the number of inspections performed in 2013.

The Hasson Company launches new mobile apps

The Hasson Company has released its first Android, iPhone and iPad mobile apps, which allow consumers to search for a home with immediate access to all active listings within the Multiple Listing Service.

Search tools available through the app include a proximity search using current location, a perimeter search used by drawing boundaries on a map and a scope search that displays all available properties when a device’s camera is aimed down any street. The Hasson app also gives you the option to narrow your search using traditional search methods such as price, square footage, number of bedrooms/bathrooms, open houses and more.

Free real estate workshop series offered

Professionals for Home Ownership is offering a series of workshops to educate interested individuals on the real estate purchasing and finance process. The workshops are free and open to the public.

“There is no fee or commitment required for our services,” said PHO member Lynda Huber, a real estate consultant and broker with Coldwell Banker Seal. “We provide the attendees with a lot of information and a free lunch.”

The series will be held from 10 a.m. to noon March 22, 29, April 12 and 26 at Prospect Mortgage, 5900 Meadows Road, suite 600 in Lake Oswego.

The March 22 session will cover real estate and mortgage loan basics, timelines and tax advantages. The March 29 meeting will cover lender pre-approval and managing your credit score. The April 12 meeting will focus on short sales and foreclosures, loan programs, partnerships to purchase real estate. The April 26 session will focus on how to manage your own investment properties and investment tax advantages.
