Tim Mather, founder of MCM Construction Inc. of Lake Oswego, has been awarded the Oswego Heritage Award from the Lake Oswego Chamber of Commerce. The award was presented at the chamber’s annual awards dinner held March 19 at Oswego Lake Country Club for Mather’s instrumental efforts in the relocation and restoration of the Pietro Belluschi home to the Belluschi Pavilion at Marylhurst University.

The home was originally built by Arthur and Lucy Griffith in 1951. The couple wished for the perfect home to start their lives together and commissioned renowned Northwest architect Pietro Belluschi to design and construct a compact house meeting all of their needs. The original builder, John Kinsman, worked closely with Belluschi and his design to construct the perfect home for the Griffiths.

The property was slated to be torn down in 2008. However Mather, leading a group of contractors, architects and professionals with a keen interest in historically significant architecture, was able to convince the home’s owner to let the group dismantle the home piece by piece for relocation. Marylhurst University embraced the opportunity to provide a new home for the reconstructed house and has become an integral part of the team to preserve this piece of historic design. The Belluschi Pavilion will provide educational opportunities for Marylhurst students and the architectural community and will be a resource for the community at large.

Mather has more than 30 years of industry experience since first becoming a licensed contractor in 1983. He founded MCM Construction Inc. in 1991 with the concept of creating a superior general contracting enterprise to deliver design and build solutions that stand the test of time. MCM also specializes in historic renovation projects and has a passion for homes with a past as well as a future.
