Madison Lane selected to represent Harney & Sons, Sugar Brook

Lake Oswego-based Madison Lane, a specialty food brokerage firm, has signed an agreement to represent Harney & Sons Master Tea Blenders, based in Millerton, N.Y. Madison Lane will be selling the line of teas — loose teas, teabags, sachets and bottled ice teas — along with juices, coconut water and ginger ale to specialty retail grocery stores throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana.

The firm was also selected to represent Sugar Brook Farm’s popular line of cold pack cheeses, including a selection of spreads, cheese balls and logs, deli cakes, stuffed peppadews, olives, tapenades and cheese fudge.

“Everyone at Madison Lane is delighted to bring a company like Sugar Brook Farms aboard,” said Brian Howard, Madison Lane president. “Their unique product line will be a great addition to our offerings to gourmet grocery stores here in the Northwest.”

Jerry Fletcher, aka the Networking Ninja, will be the guest speaker at the FORGE luncheon April 16 at Marylhurst University’s Old Library. His presentation, titled 30-Second Marketing, tells how to craft an unforgettable self introduction and launch a tide of referrals for your business. Fletcher is considered a master of the art of networking and contact relationship management.

Frank earns certification

Finding a successor in multi-generational workforce

The Kruse Way Economic Forum will meet April 17 from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Kruse Oaks Conference Center, 5300 Meadows Road in Lake Oswego. Baja Fresh ranked top in nation for second year in a row

The Lake Oswego Baja Fresh was ranked No. 1 nationwide for 2012 against almost 300 other Baja Fresh locations, for the second year in a row. Scores are based on number of customer positive comments, good scores on corporate inspections for cleanliness, excellent business practices, overall positive customer survey scores, comments and sales growth.

“We’re thrilled to have such a wonderful relationship with our customers. Our success is built on the great staff we are fortunate to have,” said owner Ramsey Zawideh, a resident of Lake Oswego. “Our staff really gives their best every single day.”

Zawideh also owns the Salem Baja Fresh, which ranked fourth nationwide; he credits the restaurants’ great teams in the success.

Shawn Marvin joines The Bank of Oswego

The Bank of Oswego has added Shawn Marvin as vice president and business banker. He assumed his duties in March and is based in the downtown Lake Oswego office.

Marvin has more than 10 years experience as a private and business banker in Portland. While with Sterling Bank, he developed a diverse portfolio with businesses and high-net worth individuals, specializing in customized commercial lending, lines of credit and real estate financing.

Kaiser Permanente staff to be honored

Kaiser Permanente held its first employee community engagement recognition breakfast on April 4 at the Double Tree by Hilton Portland at Lloyd Center to celebrate KP employees’ spirit of giving and volunteerism. The event opened with a performance by the Boise-Eliot/Humboldt School Children’s gospel choir, backed by local gospel artists Janice Scroggins, LaRhonda Steel and Ron Shoals. Kaiser Permanente employees donated $932,673 during 2012, $575,000 in contributions from employees, plus company matching and $74,000 through employee fundraisers. There were 1,000 groups supported this year.

Billings, Pierson included in Edward Jones’ Strive Top 150

Tod Billings and Sharon Pierson were honored recently by Edward Jones for demonstrating the most significant 12-month growth in meeting investors’ financial needs. They were among the 150 branch teams, out of more than 11,000, invited to attend a three-day Strive Top 150 event.

“At the Strive Top 150 event, we were able to collaborate on client service strategies with other successful branch teams and gain the most current insights from industry experts,” said Billings. “Sharon and I were able to tailor some of the training to focus on areas of our business that we want to further develop or expand.”
