Vander Ploeg named senior VP, CCO at Northwest Bank

Tom A. Vander Ploeg has been named the new senior vice president and chief credit officer for the Lake Oswego office of Northwest Bank. In this position he will manage the bank’s loan portfolio, approvals, documentation and risk management.

Prior to joining Northwest Bank, Vander Ploeg served as chief credit officer at Idaho Independent Bank in Couer d’Alene, Idaho, and at Pacific Valley Bank in Salinas, Calif. He has more than 37 years experience in the banking industry.

Vander Ploeg has been an instructor at Pacific Coast Banking School in Seattle since 2007. He is a past member of the California Bankers Association and a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award from Rotary International. He graduated from the Pacific Coast Banking School, where he received a master’s level certificate.

Learn to look for opportunities at FORGE meeting

The November Forums on Real Growth and Education (FORGE) will meet Nov. 19 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Old Library on the Marylhurst University campus. Guest speaker will be Stephanie Somanchi, who will reveal how to eliminate decision paralysis and refocus to optimize every opportunity. Use this session to learn and grow from every circumstance by embracing the view that both success and failure present an opportunity to grow and gain insight and improve decision making and analysis.

Somanchi has a reoccurring segment on ABC TV and is referenced regularly on CBS MoneyWatch. Her MBA and PhD in social science combine with a business background to provide a platform of knowledge from which she tackles everyday topics with practical experience that promotes empowerment.

Oakes, Snyder promoted at The Bank of Oswego

The Bank of Oswego has promoted Nicole Oakes to assistant vice president, assistant controller and Dianne Snyder to assistant vice president of retail.

Oakes most recently was director of operations for The Bank of Oswego. She has been with the bank since 2005 and in the spring of 2013 completed the requirements of the Oregon Bankers Association’s NW Bank Operations School. She is also pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting at Warner Pacific College.

Snyder joined The Bank of Oswego in November 2012 to development business relationships in the Sherwood, Tualatin and Tigard markets. Her new duties include business development and management of the bank’s Mercantile Village location. Snyder serves on the boards of the Sherwood YMCA and Sherwood Chamber of Commerce and is active in the Tigard and Tualatin communities.
