Wright named dentist of the year

West Linn dentist Kimberly Wright, DMD, MAGD, was named the Dentist of the Year by the Oregon Academy of General Dentistry at its annual meeting Oct. 5 in Portland.

The award recognizes a general practitioner who has made an extraordinary commitment to the community and to the profession. Criteria for the award include service to dentistry, service to the community, clinical skills and contribution to and participation in continuing education.

Wright has maintained a private practice in Oregon for 25 years and currently practices as a local general dentist and owner of Advanced Dental Arts Center in West Linn.

Marylhurst schedules business degree information session

Marylhurst University’s School of Business will host an informational session in December to help prospective students learn more about the university’s many bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in business.

Wolf named OD of the Year

David Wolf was named Optometric Physician of the Year for 2013 by the Great Western Council of Optometry for the “outstanding work he has done in the field of optometry, as well for his work in his community.” Wolf is involved with the American Optometric Association and the Oregon Optometric Physicians Association. He is currently the Oregon state professional representative for VSP vision.

He is a member of Lake Oswego Rotary Club and Lake Oswego Chamber of Commerce.

LO liquor store to add beer, wine

The Oregon Liquor Control Commission has approved Lake Oswego liquor store 1178, located at 644 N. State St., to convert from exclusive to non-exclusive status, allowing the store to sell beer and wine.

Zehtab Family Dentistry collecting for toy drive

Zehtab Family Dentistry is collecting toys through Dec. 13 for a toy drive. The public is asked to bring donations of new, unwrapped toys to the office during business hours.

Ellsworth joins Buckley Law

Jeff Ellsworth has joined Buckley Law as an associate in the business and real estate transactions department. He will work primarily with the business law and estate planning practice groups.

Prior to joining Buckley Law, Ellsworth practiced in Bend, Ore.

He received his J.D. from Northwestern School of Law at Lewis & Clark College, where he served as the president of the Business Law Society. He also received a bachelor’s degree from Concordia Univesity graduating cum laude.

Broms retires after 37 years

Anton Broms, M.D., who served the Lake Oswego and Tualatin communities for more than 25 of his 37 years in practice under the Women’s Healthcare Associates LLC banner, has retired.

On reflecting on his career, Broms said there were two standout moments. The first was delivering three sets of twins in a 24-hour period. The second also involved delivering a set of twins — one of whom has recently joined WHA as a new physician.

Broms said he plans to spend more time with friends and his granddaughter and being more active outdoors during retirement.
