Chef Ellie wins Kellys Jelly challenge

Chef Ellen 'Ellie' Hatzi of The Olive and The Grape wine shop and bistro is the winner of the first annual Kelly's Jelly Challenge.

To demonstrate the jelly's versatility, Hatzi chose to include an appetizer, entrée and dessert on one plate titled 'Kelly's Jelly Three Ways.' Her plate included Panko-crusted goat cheese medallions stuffed with Kelly's Jelly and served with garlic crostini; pulled pork sliders; and sweet ricotta fritters with a spicy glaze.

'Kelly's Habanero Jelly is so versatile. The heat is not overwhelming, so it complements rather than overpowers a dish,' Hatzi said.

The Olive and the Grape will feature the Panko-crusted goat cheese medallions as a special appetizer through the month of May.

Chef Ellie will be featured on Good Day Oregon on Fox 12 TV Monday, May 7, at 9 a.m.
