Learn what treasures are tucked away in the vault

Oswego Heritage Council will open its 2012-13 First Wednesday history lecture series Oct. 3 with a presentation by Kerry Tymchuk, executive director of the Oregon Historical Society. Tymchuk will speak on “Treasures From the Vault,” some of the OHS’s most interesting and historical treasures.

Tymchuk is a fifth generation Oregonian, graduating in 1981 from Willamette University and in 1984 from Willamette University College of Law. Tymchuk took the helm at the Oswego Heritage Council in April 2011.

Prior to this position, he earned a reputation as one of Oregon’s most respected public servants. He served as a Marion County deputy district attorney, legal counsel to U.S. Congressman Denny Smith, director of speech writing to U.S. Secretary of Labor Elizabeth Dole, director of speech writing and legal counsel to U.S. Sen. Bob Dole and Oregon chief of staff to U.S. Sen. Gordon Smith.

The Oswego Heritage Council’s First Wednesday series will continue with informative presentations on Nov. 7, Feb. 6, March 6, April 3 and May 1.
