by: SUBMITTED PHOTO - Lake Oswegos Celeste Spangler is a featured performer in Oregon Childrens Theatres Young Professional production of A World War II Radio Christmas. Travel back in time and join the audience of a live radio show broadcast from Portland during World War II. Inspiring true stories, comedic sketches and commercials, swinging Christmas tunes, live folly sound effects and the songs that shook the airwaves make a lively holiday celebration.

In addition, the group Letters to Soldiers will have a table at all shows, offering audience members the opportunity to write letters of support to deployed military men and women.

“A World War II Radio Christmas” will be performed Dec. 8 through 16 with 2 p.m. performances on Saturdays and Sundays and 5 p.m. performances on Saturdays. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. Call the box office at 503-228-9571 to purchase tickets now.

The play was written by Portland’s Pat Kruis Tellinghusen, and is based on the Christmas From Home series originally performed by Tapestry Theatre. Directed by Dani Baldwin, the cast includes Oregon Children’s Theatre’s Young Professionals Collin Carver, Madeleine Delaplane, Bryce Earhart, Jeremy Howard, Daniel Martin, Anne Parham, Jessica Skinner and Lake Oswego’s Celeste Spangler. Music direction is by Jeffrey Childs. Eric Nordin plays keyboard and costumes were designed by Sydney Dufka.

All performances are held in the OCT’s Black Box Studio, 1939 NE Sandy Blvd., in Portland. The play is recommended for ages 6 and up.
