SUBMITTED PHOTOThe Portland Dixieland Jazz Society will hold the annual Jim Beatty Jazz Band Christmas concert and dance on Dec. 16 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Milwaukie Elks Lodge, 13121 SE McLoughlin Blvd.

Membership in the Elks or PDJS is not required. Admission is $10 for PDJS members and $15 for nonmembers. Food and beverages will be available to purchase and the lodge has a large dance floor.

The Jim Beatty Jazz Band includes Beatty on clarinet, Pat O’Neal on trombone and vocals, Reece Marshburn on piano, Dave Johnson on guitar and banjo, Dave Duthie on bass, Sam Foulger on percussion and Marianna Thielen on vocals.

PDJS is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of traditional jazz music. The organization hosts local and regional bands each month to play a variety of traditional jazz styles for listening and dancing. Each session includes several intermission jam sessions for local musicians as well.

Young people under 21 are welcome, when accompanied by parent or guardian. Membership in the PDJS is $20 for singles or $30 for couples. Membership includes a newsletter and reduced admission to sessions.
