Rotary lobster feed, aution set for June 15

The 29th annual lobster feed and charity auction, hosted by the Lake Oswego Rotary Foundation and Lakewood Center for the Arts, will be held June 15 at the Lakewood Center for the Arts, 368 S. State St. in Lake Oswego. The event begins with cocktails and silent auction at 5 p.m., followed by lobster feed and clambake at 6:45 p.m. and oral auction at 7:45 p.m. Tickets are $125 each or $150 for patron tickets. They can be purchased online at lorotary.org or by calling 503-635-6338.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Lakewood Center for the Arts, Oswego Heritage Council, Lake Oswego Meals Network, Happy Trails Riding Center, Mobility Impaired Golf Association and a number of other local and international charities.

Tualatin River Refuge to hold Bird Festival Saturday

The annual Bird Festival at the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge will be held Saturday, May 18 at the refuge in Sherwood. The event begins with early morning bird walks at 5:30 a.m. From 9 a.m. to noon, Tualatin Riverkeepers will offer paddle trips on the river. Family activitities, such as pond study, casting for fish, migration golf, Japanese fish printing, building bird or bat houses and bee boards and more, run from 10 a.m. The event also includes information on restoration and conservation habitats, digitial photography workshop and a twilight walk. Singer's Showcase planned as benefit for Mark Simon

Mark Simon, a critically-acclaimed composer with ties to Lake Oswego and West Linn, is awaiting a lifesaving liver transplant and costs are overwhelming. Fellow musicians are hosting a Singer's Showcase on May 22 to help pay the medical expenses. The benefit will be held at Tony Starlight's Supper Club and Lounge, 3728 NE Sandy Blvd., in Portland. Broadway Rose extends run of "Always ... Patsy Cline"

"Always ... Patsy Cline," a funny and touching tribute to one of the best-loved names in country music, will continued through May 26 at the Broadway Rose New Stage, 12850 SW Grant Ave. in Tigard. The musical tribute features Sara Catherine Wheatley as Cline and Broadway Rose's artistic director, Sharon Maroney, as her friend, Louise Seger. Tickets start at $30. Northwest Rose Historians to present program on pioneer roses

Laura King and Kathleen McMullen, founders of Northwest Rose Historians, will present a free program on Pioneer Roses of Clackamas County on June 10 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Milwaukie Center, 5440 SE Kellogg Creek Dr. in Milwaukie. The women will tell tales of families who brought roses to Oregon as well as about their work with the Master Gardener project at the End of the Oregon Trail Pioneer Rose Garden.

The Noted nearing completion on new CD

The Noted, lead by Lake Oswego musician Daniel Work, is nearing completion of its new CD, "At This Moment." Pre-orders of the 13-track CD can be secured on facebook.net/thenoted or thenoted.net. In addition to Work musical contributors to the recording include Ben Haynor, Doug Smith, Myriam Gendron, Miguel Martinez and Bob Stark. Marv Ross and Jake Oken-berg co-wrote "Move On" and "I Am," respectively.
