Alistar Donkin of England will serve as stage manager

Marylhurst University’s Department of Music will present two performances of “H.M.S. Pinafore” on campus June 7 and 9.

The finale of the Marylhurst Chorale and the Choral Union season, this popular comic opera in two acts features music by the renowned team of W.S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan.

Special guest artist Alistar Donkin of England, one of the world’s foremost Gilbert & Sullivan interpreters, will serve as stage director and narrator for the two performances. Justin Smith, Marylhurst’s director of choral activities, will conduct.

The performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. in St. Anne’s Chapel on the Marylhurst University campus. Admission is $10; seniors and students $5.

In addition to the June 7 and 9 performances, the company will stage a free preview performance at the White Eagle Pub, 836 N Russell St. in Portland at 5 p.m. on June 2.
