Show pays tribute to USO

Mask and Mirror Community Theatre’s Traveling Thesbians have written “A Star Spangled Roadshow,” a tribute to the USO shows of World War II, which were designed to boost morale of servicemen and women.

“A Star Spangled Roadshow” is the story of a novice director, a tired producer a diva and cast of talented characters, dancers and singers coming together to present a heartfelt tribute to America, the armed forces and the swinging tunes of the 1940s.

The show will be presented at the Tualatin Heritage Center, 8700 SW Sweek Drive in Tualatin on June 14 and 15 at 7:30 p.m. and June 16 at 2 p.m. Proceeds from the shows benefit the Tualatin Heritage Center and the Tualatin Historical Society. Admission is free; donations are gladly accepted.

Submit favorite photos of Tryon Creek in contest

The Friends of Tryon Creek invite the public to submit their favorite photos taken during 2013 of Tryon Creek State Natural Area, Oregon’s only urban state park, for a chance to win an action adventure package. Trainer’s Club to host art and craft fair June 22

Trainer’s Club, located at 333 S. State Street in Lake Oswego, will host an art and craft fair on June 22 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The show will feature glass art by Bill Zuelke, prints by Beth Sautter, acrylics, collage and encaustic art by Sue Jensen and mix media art by Lee Chapman. The event includes free refreshments, face painting and prizes.

The Oregon State Fair will run Aug. 23 through Sept. 2 at the Oregon State Fairgrounds in Salem. Hours are Sunday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. The carnival opens each day at 11 a.m.

• Brantley Gilbert, Aug. 23, 8 p.m. Tickets are $30, $40 and $50.

• Martina McBride, Sept. 2, 7 p.m. Tickets are $30, $40 and $45

Chatauqua Festival back as Gladstone Cultural Festival

The Chatauqua Festival of yesteryear was canceled due to lack of funding, but Gladstone Oak Grove Rotary has announced it is bringing the summer festival back with a new name, Gladstone Cultural Festival. The event is planned for Aug. 2, 3 and 4 in several venues in Gladstone. Marti Peterson of M&M Marketing is the event director and invites interested vendors, sponsors and volunteers to contact her at 503-515-8558.

Clackamas County wineries to hold Father’s Day Wine Festival

Seven Clackamas County wineries will pour their wines on June 15 at a special Father’s Day Wine Festival to be held at St. Josef’s Winery near Canby, 28836 S. Barlow Road. Tickets are $10 per person and tastes are $1 each. Wineries participating include AlexEli, Buddha Kat, formerly Wasson Brothers, Forest Edge, Hanson Vineyards, King’s Raven, St. Josef’s and Pheasant Run.

LadyBug Chocolates, SuDan Farms and other vendors will have booths offering their foods.

Rae Gordon Band will provide blues music with a pinch of funk and a dash of R&B during the afternoon.

Trios’ Forging Ahead exhibit to open June 22

Trios Studio, located at 3 Monroe Parkway, suite 1, in Lake Oswego, will kick off its annual Women and Metal: Forging Ahead jewelry exhibit and sale on June 22 from noon to 5 p.m. with a gala benefit for CASA of Clackamas County. The exhibit continues through Aug. 17.
