Jami Lula presents concert at New Thought Center

Award-winning singer-songwriter Jami Lula will present a concert Aug. 23 at New Thought Center for Spiritual Living. Lula will play classic favorites as well as new songs from his upcoming album, “Naked.” Lula’s music is said to be uplifting, healing and heart opening and spreads a powerful message of love and positive intention.

Tickets to the concert are $15 each and may be purchased online at or at the door.

New Thought Center for Spiritual Living is located at 1040 C Ave. in Lake Oswego.

Photo contest opens

Amateur and professional photographers are invited to enter their best images in the fifth annnual city of Lake Oswego photo contest.

First, second and third place prizes will be awarded in five categories, including Life in Lake Oswego, Places in Lake Oswego, People of Lake Oswego, Positive Aging in Lake Oswego and Youth, for photographers under age 18. Photos will be judged on technical quality, clarity and composition as well as a flair for the unexpected and the ability to capture a picture-perfect moment.

Deadline for submission is 5 p.m., Sept. 4. Category winners will be announced in early November.

Get tickets now for Bet for Pets Casino Night and Auction

Help homeless animals and enjoy an evening of gambling and an auction at Animal Aid’s Bet for Pets Casino Night to be held Sept. 28 from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the World Forestry Center. Tickets are $50, which includes $30 in casino scrip, drink ticket, appetizers and desserts, door prizes and more.

Animal Aid is a 501(3)c nonprofit animal rescue and welfare organization whose mission is to reduce animal birth rates and suffering through education, assistance to community members who cannot afford urgent veterinary care and finding permanent homes for animals in its care.

Christmas at the Old Church tickets on sale now

Michael Allen Harrison’s “Christmas at the Old Church” is a holiday tradition. Tickets are now on sale for the 23rd season, which runs Dec. 14 through 26, with afternoon and evening shows.

Garden Corner offers fall workshops

The Garden Corner, located at 21550 SW 108th Ave. in Tualatin, is offering free workshops this fall. The first is scheduled for Sept. 15 and is focused on creating fall container gardens.

Soil, fertilizer and expertise is free; attendees purchase the plants you wish to use.

The second workshop is on designing a fall wreath and will be held Sept. 29. No workshop fee is required; you pay for the embellishments you add to the wreath.

A Halloween hanging basket workshop is planned for Oct. 13. Attendees will build a spooky creation. Attendees pay only for plants used; soil, fertilizer and expertise are provided free of charge.
