by: SUBMITTED PHOTO - Jon Bell, a Lake Oswego writer and photographer, will present tales and images illustrating Mt. Hoods history on Sept. 26 at the Museum of the Oregon Territory. He is the author of On Mt. Hood, A Biography of Oregons Perilous Peak.

Lake Oswego resident Jon Bell, author of “On Mt. Hood, A Biography of Oregon’s Perilous Peak,” will present tales and images illustrating Mount Hood’s history on Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. at the Museum of the Oregon Territory, 211 Tumwater Drive, Oregon City.

The free event begins at 7 p.m.

Like his 2011 biography of Mount Hood, Bell is steeped in every aspect of the mountain, from its influence on the development of snow-moving technology to its rich geographical and cultural history.

He applies himself to exploring its facets both as a mountain climber and an historian. Bell found it worthy to record Mount Hood’s story through new and existing oral histories, research and photographs.

The program is recommended for all ages.
