See Its a Wonderful Life next week

Cast made up of people from Lake Oswego, West Linn and Wilsonville

“It’s a Wonderful Life,” a musical based on the 1946 movie starring Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed, will be presented by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints this month.

The Nov. 21, 22 and 23 performances will be held at the stage of the LDS church located at 14903 Westlake Drive in Lake Oswego.

Showtime is 7 p.m. each evening, and there will be a 1:30 p.m. Saturday matinee.

“Admission is a can of food to a local food bank,” said Dana Edvalson, director of the production. “We encourage everyone in the community to attend.”

Edvalson said the production is a theatrical experience for the whole family.

The cast includes 18 children age 8 to 12, 32 youth and 44 adults from seven congregations in Lake Oswego, West Linn and Wilsonville.

The script stays close to the movie and features most of the iconic moments fans wait to hear. It features the book and lyrics by Keith Ferguson and music by Bruce Greer from the original screenplay by Frances Goodrich, Albert Hackett, Frank Capra and Jo Swerling.

“The LDS Church in the Lake Oswego area has produced a full-scale musical every other year since 1989,” Edvalson said. “As is our tradition, the plays present Broadway-type musicals that feature families.”
