The Portland Youth Philharmonic will present its annual festive and family-friendly Concert-at-Christmas at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 26 at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, 1037 SW Broadway, Portland.

Guest conductor Huw Edwards, former PYP music director and Portland Columbia Symphony Orchestra conductor emeritus and principal guest director, will open the concert by leading the PYP Alumni Orchestra in Verdi’s “Nabucco.” The evening will continue with performances by all four of PYP’s ensembles.

Ticket prices for this concert range from $16 to $50. To order, call the PYP office at 503-232-5939 or visit the website, portlandyouthphil.org.

Founded in 1924, PYP is America’s first established youth orchestra. Members of the association range in age from 7 to 23, are accepted based on audition and come from 100 schools throughout Northwest Oregon and Southwest Washington. There are five ensembles under the PYP umbrella. The Philharmonic Orchestra presents a full concert series in the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall that closely parallels that of a professional symphony orchestra. Learn more on the PYP website.
