Auditions set for production of ‘Les Miserables’

Sherwood Foundation of the Arts is one of the last organizations to receive the rights to “Les Miserables” before it heads back to Broadway for a two-year run. It will be presented at Stella Olson Park on July 24, 25 and 26.

Auditions for the production will be held March 13, 14 and 15 by appointment. Those interested in auditioning should download an audition form at and be prepared to sing 32 bars of music from a Broadway song similar in character to the role you are most interested in playing. Children interested in playing Little Cosette must sing “Castle on a Cloud;” Gavroche must sing his part of “Look Down.”

Funhouse Lounge to present ‘Buffy! A Parody Play’

Funhouse Lounge is now producing scripted shows, in addition to the unscripted improv shows by The Unscriptables. The first of the scripted shows will be “Buffy! A Parody Play,” a live stage parody of the 1992 cult classic film “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”

The play is directed by Trenton Shine and stars Landy Steckman. The play opens at 7 p.m. March 6 and continues with shows Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through March 29. Tickets for Thursday performances are $12 in advance and $15 at the door; Friday and Saturday performances are priced at $15 in advance and $18 at the door.
