Emma Boden will demonstrate acryllic painting at the festival

Lake Grove Presbyterian Church will hold its second Festival of Creativity Saturday and Sunday at the church, 4040 Sunset Drive in Lake Oswego.

The event is a celebration of the church’s art and artists and the public is invited to attend the free show.

“Following the theme ‘Celebrating our Gifts,’ artists from the church community will display original paintings, sculptures, photography, fiber arts, jewelry and fused glass among other items,” Dixie Kroupa, one of the event organizers, said. “Works by young students as well as adults will be viewed and several artists will be giving demonstrations.”

Emma Boden, who at 10 was the youngest artist participating in last year’s festival, serves on the planning committee and has encouraged other young people to participate. She takes art classes and says she is always doing something art related.

“I’ll be demonstrating acrylic painting at the festival,” she said, though she works in a variety of mediums.

The event opens Saturday at 11 a.m. and continues until 7 p.m. Demonstrations of a variety of arts will be given, including wood carving, calligraphy, collage, mono prints, yarn dolls, watercolor, acrylic, clay sculpture and iPad painting. On Sunday the exhibit is open from 9 a.m. to noon.

“There will be 55 paintings, 41 pieces of fiber art, three sculptures in the display,” artist Rudy Stevens said. “In all, 43 artists are participating. This is a great way for us to invite others into our church and show them what goes on there.”
