CASA Kentucky Derby party planned for May 3

The 2014 CASA of Clackamas County Kentucky Derby Party will be held beginning at 1 p.m. May 3 at Oswego Lake Country Club, 20 Iron Mountain Blvd., Lake Oswego. Those attending will get to watch the Kentucky Derby on the big screen while dining on Derby-inspired foods and sipping mint juleps. The event includes raffle prizes, silent auction, wall of wine, best hat and best tie competitions. Proceeds of the event benefit CASA of Clackamas County in giving voice to abused and neglected children in the community.

Historic home tour planned May 17

In celebration of National Historic Preservation Month, and in recognition of the community’s historic past and architectural diversity, Oswego Heritage Council will host its sixth annual Historic Home Tour from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 17.

The tour begins at Oswego Heritage House at 11 a.m.

Tickets are $35 each and can be purchased online at oswegoheritage.org/events/hometour.html or at Oswego Heritage House, 398 Tenth St. in Lake Oswego. Tickets are also available at Dennis 7-Dees, 1090 McVey Blvd. Lake Oswego, and at Zupan’s Market, 16380 Boones Ferry Road, Lake Oswego.

Super Band to play at Jimmy Mak’s

Michael Allen Harrison’s Super Band will play at Jimmy Mak’s at 8 p.m. May 2. The Super Band plays contemporary jazz. Band members include Tim Ellis on guitar, Jeff Leonard on bass, Israel Annoh on drums, Michael Bard on saxophone and vocalist Julianne Johnson. Reserved seat tickets are $15, with dinner order required. General admission tickets are $13. Order online at tickettomato.com.

Stately Home Tour benefits NWCT

The third annual Walking Tour of Historic Homes will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 4. Proceeds from the event support capital improvements for the historic Northwest Neighborhood Cultural Center and Northwest Children’s Theater and School. Each home features special events such as slide shows of historic images, insights by the curator of the Aurora Museum about Oregon’s first utopian Christian commune, free ice cream by Ruby Jewel and guitar performances. A double decker bus will be on hand to take tour-goers from site to site, the cost of which is included in ticket price. Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased online at nwcts.org or by calling 503-222-4480.

The tour begins at NNCC, 1819 NW Everett St. in Portland and continues in surrounding old Northwest and Southwest neighborhoods.
