Students put party affiliation aside to organize city council forum

The Young Republicans and Young Democrats clubs proved that the two parties can work together, at least at Lake Oswego High School.

The two groups recently invited Lake Oswego city council candidates and members to come to the school and address the community on council matters. More than 80 students and parents attended the event.

“The student moderators came prepared with a list of questions they posed to each member or candidate,” said Caroline Dorman, publicity officer for the Young Republicans club. “At the end, the floor was opened up to questions. It was remarkable how the two clubs could work together so well and create such a successful and smoothly run event.”
