Teams find success at first LEGO League competitions


Two teams from Lake Oswego Junior High had successful results in December at the First LEGO League Robotics tournament held at Hillsboro High School.

The team won a Core Values trophy at a recent competition.  Team Totally Awesome Gamers, made up of Zander Work, Jason O’Brien, Tonya Bradley, David Park, Soul Trick and Black Shanaberger, received the Core Values trophy for best representing the core values of First LEGO League. The core values are team work, gracious professionalism, shared learnoing, discovery and inclusion.

The Cake Eating Ninja Pandas won an ACE trophy and will compete in the state competition later this month. The team is made up of Ethan Schaezler, Reed Slobodin, Brendan Schaezler, Jackson Friess, Matt Leungpathomaram, AJ Rise, coach Mark Friess and Austin Emami.Team Cake Eating Ninja Pandas, made up of Jackson Friess, AJ Rise, Matt Leungpathomaram, Reed Slobodin, Austin Emami, Ethan Schaezler and Brendan Schaezler, won one of the four ACE trophies, for Advancement to Championship Event, which earns them an invitation to the state championship competition to be held later this month at Liberty High School. ACE trophies are awarded to teams that best demonstrate success across all judged areas of the competition, including robot and software design, core values, project research, design and presentation and successful execution of the robot table missions.
