Durant S. Abernethy, IV, of Tualatin, has earned the highest advancement award offered by the Boy Scouts of America, the Eagle Scout Award. His achievement will be recognized during a Court of Honor on March 21.

During his scouting career Abernethy has earned more than 28 badges; he has served as senior patrol leader, is a member of the Order of the Arrow and BSA National Honor Society.

For his Eagle project Abernethy restored play equipment at Christ Church Preschool and built benches for the playground.

Abernethy is a member of Christ Church Episcopal and a senior at Tualatin High School. He plays basketball, pole vaults for the high school track team and is a marathon runner.

Abernethy is the son a Dr. April Abernethy.
