College Notes

The Lake Oswego Review regularly prints lists of college graduates and dean’s list honorees, and below are names of students that the newspaper has received so far. Content comes from what parents and schools send. There are too many institutes of higher education for the news staff to track.

Honorees include:

  • Lake Oswego High School alumna Mimi Granlund graduated summa cum laude from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Wash. with three bachelor’s degrees, one in math, one in physics and one in art.

  • Jessica London of Lake Oswego graduated magna cum laude from Lafayette College in Easton, Pa. with a bachelor’s in anthropology and sociology.

  • Christina Bogdan of Lake Oswego earned a place on the University of Wyoming president’s honor roll, for students with a 4.0 grade point average.

  • Patrick Maag of Lake Oswego graduated Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis., with a bachelor’s degree in finance.

  • Lydia Leann Burris of Lake Oswego was named to the dean’s honor roll at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kan., for the spring semester.

  • Blair Wax of Lake Oswego graduated cum laude from Georgetown University with a bachelor’s in government and a minor in Italian.

  • Danielle Meeker, a 2009 Lake Oswego High School graduate, this year received a bachelor’s in English, minoring in biology.

  • University of Idaho has announced that 2,062 of its students made the dean’s list, receiving a grade point of average of 3.5 or higher, including two Lake Oswego students: Evan Easley and Robert Gassner.

  • Several locals graduated from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash.: RachelAnn Doherty, bachelor’s in psychology; Elise Ferguson, bachelor’s in psychology; Nathan Heinrichs, bachelor’s in business administration; MacGregor Hodgson, bachelor’s in chemistry; Sara Kolmes, bachelor’s in philosophy; Monica Marquard, bachelor’s in psychology; Nicholas Merchant, bachelor’s in journalism; Elizabeth Miller, bachelor’s in business administration; Andrea Ryder, bachelor’s in public relations; Kathryn Shannon, bachelor’s in history; Gregory Talbott, bachelor’s in broadcast and electronic media; and James Taylor, bachelor’s in international relations.

  • Several students from Lake Oswego graduated from Linfield College in McMinnville: Holly Buchanan, bachelor’s in nursing; Megan Lee Coleman, bachelor’s in elementary education; Morgan Home, bachelor’s in nursing; Alison Michelle Steelman, bachelor’s in nursing; Patricia Ann Violet, bachelor’s in nursing.

  • Dean’s list honorees at Edinboro University in Edinboro, Pa. this spring term included Matthew Sandoval of Lake Oswego.

  • This spring term, Haley Warren of Lake Oswego was named to the dean’s list at Creighton University in Omaha, Neb.

  • Elizabeth Weirich of Lake Oswego earned a biology degree from Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colo.

  • Chloe Louaillier of Lake Oswego was named to the dean’s list at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn.

  • Several students from Lake Oswego made the dean’s list at the University of Portland, earning a 3.5 GPA or higher: Andrea Monto, senior, social work; Finn Preben Ingvaldsen, junior, computer science; Hailee Kenney, senior, electrical engineering; Hillary Beard, junior, nursing; Kelsi Gjesdal, sophomore, nursing; Morgan Hawkes, sophomore, business administration; Sarah Porter, senior, accounting; Sierra Bray, junior, organizational communication; Thomas Iwasaki, senior, finance; and Troy Attinasi, freshman, business administration.

  • Four Lake Oswego residents landed a place on the dean’s list at George Fox University in Newberg, earning a 3.5 GPA or higher: Casey Dudek, a freshman majoring in biblical studies; Lexi Peck, a freshman majoring in psychology; Jonathan Switzer, a freshman majoring in organizational communication; and Kelsey Vaughn, a freshman majoring in organizational communication.

  • Ashlen Saulson of Lake Oswego received a doctor of medicine degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas.

  • Taylor Babcock, a 2009 Lakeridge High School graduate, was named the Barry University 2013 School of Human Performance and Leisure Sciences Dean’s Award Winner. Babcock has a 3.592 GPA at the Miami Shores, Fla. school.
