Forest Hills students help the homeless during holidays

During their holiday parties, the school’s three fifth-grade classes teamed up to put together gift buckets. The students in Katherine Cohn’s, Ron Bagwell’s and Tammi Leach’s classes decorated the buckets and then filled them with toiletries, toys and other items, donating them to Central City Concern. Central City Concern, a nonprofit organization, supports single adults and families in the Portland metro area who struggle with homelessness, poverty and addiction.by: SUBMITTED PHOTO - Teacher Ron Bagwells fifth-grade class was one of three at Forest Hills that supported a nonprofit group, Central City Concern.

Lake Oswego Miller Paint donated the paint buckets to the school.

“A big thank you to Lake Oswego Miller Paint for donating the buckets that (we) used for the project,” said Beth Taylor, a Forest Hills parent.

Principal Gwen Hill recently sent out a message to all of the staff and families who help out throughout the year, including a few elves who brought cookies to celebrate the holidays.by: SUBMITTED PHOTO - Forest Hills teacher Tammi Leachs fifth-graders pose with their gift buckets.

“The generosity and support we receive from this community is sometimes overwhelming,” Hill said. “We all appreciate everything that our parents/volunteers do all year long.”
