Company variety show on tap

Lakeridge High School’s show choir, Company, will be performing its variety show, Talk of the Town, next week.

The night of singing and dancing kicks off at 7:30 p.m. April 24, 25 and 26 (with a 2 p.m. April 26 matinee) in the Lakeridge auditorium, 1235 Overlook Drive.

The cost is $12 for adults and $8 for students and seniors, and the 7:30 p.m. April 24 show is $5 for students and seniors. Advance tickets are available at the school or online: lrhs.tix.com.

Judging book covers

Oregon Historical Society staff and publishing industry professionals will be judging book covers created by middle and high school students in Oregon and Southwest Washington.

Young artists, graphic designers and history buffs have a shot at a $150 first place, $100 second place or $50 third place prize if they enter the Oregon Historical Society, The Oregon Encyclopedia, & Ooligan Press Book Cover Design Contest. Participants not only come up with a title and cover design but also must include a description that, in 75 words or less, describes an imagined story and its link to Oregon history.

Students must include their name, contact information, school and grade level in their email submission. The deadline is midnight on May 31, and the winner will be announced at the Oregon Historical Society’s Summer Community Day on June 21. STEM scholarships for girls offered

National company iD Tech is offering science, technology and engineering education for children and teens is offering summer tech program scholarships to female students.

This summer, iD Tech plans to send more than 100 girls for free this summer to iD Tech Camps, a program for ages 7-17.

Applications are due Monday, and applicants will be notified whether they were selected by May 15. For more information, visit iDTech.com/girls.

Rotary scholarships available

Rotary Club of Lake Oswego is offering scholarships to four area high school seniors. Two students at Lake Oswego High School and two students at Lakeridge each will receive college scholarships. One student per school will earn the distinction of receiving the Rotary Merit Scholarship, aimed at encouraging academic excellence and valued at $2,000.

The other honor is the Rotary Service Above Self Scholarship, which is given to students who best demonstrate Rotary’s motto “Service Above Self,” and it is valued at $2,500.

Students who wish to apply can contact their school’s counseling department. Applications are due by April 25 at Lakeridge High and by May 2 at Lake Oswego High.
