Students from Lake Oswego's Touchstone Elementary School have raised $268 for UNICEF by earning dollars for tasks performed in their own homes and throughout the community.
To pique potential donators' interest, students of the K-6 private school at 2 S.W. Touchstone Drive fashioned a coupon book offering various services for a small fee. Tasks included cleaning, yard work and washing dishes.
Before the fundraiser, the children composed persuasive essays about the organizations they wanted to help, and then voted to support UNICEF.
UNICEF is a nonprofit that works in 190 countries and territories to protect the rights of children and improve the lives of kids and their families through education and advocacy.
