The May 20 episode of the Food Network's "Cupcake Champions" saw Kyra Bussanich of Crave Bake Shop in Lake Oswego win the competition.
She will move on to the final leg of the "Cupcake Champions" series, where she and three other bakers will put it all on the line for a chance to be named the ultimate cupcake champion and win $50,000.
The grand finale will premier Sunday, June 10, at 8 p.m.
To get to the finale, Bussanich created an extravagant display case to hold 1,000 cupcakes. The display case had to feature the characters of "Madagascar 3" and include movable parts and special effects. Bussanich and her crew had two hours to build the case and bake and decorate the cupcakes.
Bussanich, who specializes in gluten-free baked goods, created an African yam cupcake filled with coffee pastry cream and topped with clove mascarpone whippped cream.
In the star-studded episode of the finale, the bakers present their cupcakes to Food Network's brightest stars - Bobby Flay, Giada De Laurentiis and Alton Brown - who also inspired their creations.
The bakers will also serve their cupcakes at an exclusive party in New York City celebrating the release of Food Network's newest cupcake app.
Which baker will prove to guest judges and Food Network star judges Bob Tuschman and Susie Fogelson that they have the 'it' factor? Tune in to find out.
