Police seek suspect in armed robbery

Police are looking for a former Lake Oswego man in connection with an armed robbery Jan. 4.

Samuel M. Spiegel, who turned 31 on Jan. 4, is a person of interest in the robbery of an acquaintance.

The victim, a 27-year-old from Bend, and a friend of Spiegel’s picked him up in a car on Jan. 4. The three were near Overlook and Hillshire drives that evening when Spiegel allegedly threatened the car’s driver with a knife, demanded money and then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Spiegel used to live in Lake Oswego and has family here but is now considered a transient, according to police. He is described as 5-foot-7 and 140 pounds with brown hair. Police spokesman Capt. Dale Jorgensen urged anyone with information about the case or Spiegel’s whereabouts to call the police department at 503-635-0250.
