Gerson announces retirement

Ann Gerson, principal at Lake Oswego Junior High, will retire at the end of the school year.

“I am looking forward to lots of traveling,” she said. “My husband retired a year ago and now we will be able to take long trips when the rest of the world is not. We have kids living in Los Angeles as well as here and look forward to spending more time with them.”

Gerson is in her 10th year as principal at LOJHS; she came to the district in July 2003, after being recruited from Portland Public Schools. According to a Jan. 25 release from the Lake Oswego School District, “Her leadership, experience and administrative skills have been instrumental in successfully steering the LOJHS community through many changes during her tenure, most recently with the transitioning of our sixth-grade students to the middle level. Her retirement will be a loss to the district.”by: SUBMITTED - Ann Gerson, principal at Lake Oswego Junior High, will retire at the end of the school year.

Gerson anticipated that retirement would be an adjustment.

“Most of all I will miss the people,” she said. “The energy of the students, the amazing staff and the parent community. I will also miss the seasons and cycles that are so pronounced in a school.”

In the coming weeks, district administration will be communicating the approach to selecting a successor to provide leadership of LOJHS for the 2013-14 school year.
