Truck crash closes I-205 ramp, jams I-5 to Wilsonville
Traffic on Interstate 5 south was jammed from Tualatin to Wilsonville after a Tuesday morning truck rollover crash closed the Interstate 205 northbound ramp from I-5.
Oregon Department of Transportation crews were working to clear the accident, which scattered large pipes along the highway ramps lanes and shoulder just south of the I-5 split.
The accident happened at about 8:25 a.m. when a flatbed truck hauling sections of pipe failed to negotiate the curve onto I-205 northbound and rolled. Nearly an hour later, the truck was still crashed on its right side, blocking the highway ramp.
The truck driver, 35-year-old Kenneth D. Harvey Jr. of Springfield, was not injured. No other vehicles were involved in the crash. He was driving for George Van Dyke Trucking.
State troopers cited Harvey for failure to drive within a lane.
Oregon State Police and ODOT closed the I-205 ramp from I-5, but some drivers skidded to a halt on the highway, avoiding orange cones, and had to travel to the North Wilsonville to turn around and eventually get back on I-205. A line of vehicles jammed I-5s right lane headed to the North Wilsonville exit for nearly an hour.
