JANTZEN ISLAND — The Lake Oswego Development Review Commission will hold a public hearing on proposed new structures on the Jantzen Island estate, located on an island in Oswego Lake.

The estate, at 1850 North Shore Road, includes a home, bridge and boathouse considered historical landmarks.

Proposed additions include a tram and a cabana.

The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. Monday at city hall, 380 A Ave.

BOONES FERRY ROAD CLOSURES — The city is preparing for a major road closure on Boones Ferry Road so crews can replace the railroad crossing between 63rd Avenue and Jean Way. That stretch of Boones Ferry Road will close for almost a week starting Aug. 14. Nighttime lane closures are already underway. A full story will be in next week’s newspaper.

B AVENUE — Initial work is underway to repair parts of B Avenue downtown that are in bad shape from truck and bus traffic, according to the city.

YOUTH ADVISERS — The city is also accepting applications from volunteers for youth positions on advisory boards. Terms last one year. Applications are due Aug. 15. More information is available at

GIVE BLOOD — The city plans to host a blood donation drive this Friday. Walk-ins are welcome, but volunteers can also register ahead online at using the sponsor code “locityhall” or by calling 1-800-733-2767. The event will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at city hall, 380 A Ave.

PAVEMENT PATCHING — Additional road repairs are now taking place throughout Lake Oswego. Kodiak Contractors has been hired to patch the pavement at various locations from mid-August through September.

BUDGET COMMITTEE — The city is accepting applications for a three-year term on the volunteer budget committee, which reviews and fine-tunes a spending plan proposed in the spring, advancing its recommendation to the city council for adoption. CITY MEETINGS — The city will soon have a new program that will improve video streaming of city council meetings online. The improved program should be online within a couple of weeks, according to the city.
