$25 can go a long way to feed a hungry family

Sponsor a food box at Lamb's

Lamb’s Thriftway is looking to meet human needs this Christmas season with the goal of supplying 1,000 packed food boxes to The Salvation Army through the Lamb’s Thriftway Food Box Program.

It is a tradition that goes back some 25 years, and it is one that makes an impact on families and individuals in need. Shoppers at all five Lamb’s Thriftway Markets can sponsor a food box for $25, with food valued at $40. Then, for every seven boxes sold, Lamb’s Thriftway will donate one additional food box to The Salvation Army.

The Lamb’s Thriftway Food Box Program started in the garage of Wilsonville resident Fred Preston.

After three years of growth, the idea was taken on by Lowrie’s IGA Store and in the year 2000 Lamb’s Thriftway Market took on the program. Since then, it has expanded to all Lamb’s Markets locations in the tri-county area and the program has turned into an annual Christmas event that has helped thousands of families. Nearly 15,000 food boxes have been distributed to the community since then.

There is still time to get involved. You can sponsor a food box for $25 (valued at $40). Tell your cashier at any of the four Lamb’s Thriftway Markets that you wish to purchase one or more food boxes to assist children and families in the community.

Your donation amount will be printed on your grocery receipt. Lamb’s Thriftway will donate one additional box for every seven purchased. The food box program runs through Dec. 24th.

Lamb’s Palisades Thriftway in Lake Oswego is located at 1377 SW McVey Ave.
