The Lake Oswego Police Department, in association with Oregon Impact, will again participate in the national high visibility enforcement DUII detail from Christmas through the new year.

The LOPD will working with other local agencies from now through Jan. 2, 2014 with the goal of reducing the number of impaired drivers on the roads this time of year.

Drivers are reminded that impairment can be caused by a number of intoxicants, including alcohol, illicit drugs and prescription medication. If a driver is arrested for DUII he or she can be subject to monetary fines, license suspension and a jail sentence.

This is the second end-of-year high visibility DUII enforcement detail the LOPD has participated. The most recent detail was held the first of November.
