Information from the public safety column comes from the records of the Lake Oswego Police Department. Police recently filed reports on the following incidents:
2/21/12 8:43 p.m. Using the dodge of doing annual maintenance work, burglars entered a residence on Greenridge Drive and stole a 10-piece silver set, documents, including a birth certificate, and jewelry of an approximate value of $2,500.
2/22/12 3:05 a.m. A reckless driver was cited for running a vehicle into a fire hydrant on city property.
2/22/12 7:41 a.m. A 16-year-old driver was referred to the county juvenile department following a hit-and-run accident on Overlook Drive
2/21/12 10:10 a.m. A bike and golf clubs were stolen from a residence on Preakness Court. Police have already talked to a suspect.
2/22/12 8:09 a.m. A Fed Ex package was taken from a front porch on Fifth Street. The package contained two sets of white towels worth $100.
2/22/12 8:27 p.m. An employee's black Northface down coat was stolen near a restaurant on First Street. The coat contained the employee's car keys and vehicle title.
2/24/12 8:33 a.m. After having a carpet installed in her home, a woman discovered that two rings and a tennis bracelet were missing.
2/26/12 8:35 a.m. A car on Independence Avenue was broken into, and schoolbooks and a calculator valued at $825 were taken.
2/21/12 9:23 a.m. More patrols are requested for the train tracks by Boones Ferry Road and Jean Way, due to people walking on the tracks and throwing rocks.
2/21/12 9:28 a.m. A wild female driver nearly sideswiped another female driver while going down Cornell Street, then ran a stop sign. The mother of the bad driver has been notified.
2/21/12 10:39 a.m. Solicitors on Del Prado are being quite persistent in their offers to clean roofs.
2/21/12 11:43 a.m. A sheepdog running lose on Twin Fir Road is causing concern.
2/21/12 12:14 p.m. A 40-year-old roof cleaner was cited for soliciting without a license on Kingsgate Road.
2/21/12 2:51 p.m. A pastor is seeking to help a male church member in a domestic abuse situation.
2/21/12 7:15 p.m. A distraught ex-boyfriend says he is going to buy a gun. He is threatening the safety of his ex-girlfriend and himself.
2/21/12 7:59 p.m. A female roommate is accused of stealing things from her male roommate.
2/21/12 11:03 p.m. Police were asked to check on the welfare of a drunken man who made a large bang in his apartment.
2/22/12 3:34 a.m. Two subjects wearing ski masks were deemed to be odd and out of place on A Avenue. However, it turned out they were delivering newspapers.
2/22/12 7:26 a.m. An owl was trapped in a soccer net behind Oak Creek School. Officers cut the net and rescued the little bird.
2/22/12 7:47 a.m. In a case of cyber bullying, a 13-year-old daughter was harassed by somebody who opened a Facebook account using information about her.
2/22/12 11:40 a.m. A blind man at the corner of Fifth Street and C Avenue seemed to be disoriented. He was given a ride to the Lake Oswego Adult Community Center.
2/22/12 11:46 a.m. A woman is being moved out of her own residence without her permission by her ex-boyfriend and his cronies. The ex-boyfriend was informed this action was illegal.
2/22/12 12:13 p.m. An ex-boyfriend confronted his ex-girlfriend at the driveway of her home, damaging her vehicle in the process.
2/22/12 12:13 p.m. In a case of suspected elder abuse, a man who had lost his contractor's license was reported to be taking handfuls of cash from an elderly man.
2/23/12 6:05 a.m. A stalking order was served on a man following a woman.
2/23/12 9:38 a.m. A teen driver tossed out a can of energy drink while motoring down Kerr Parkway.
2/23/12 11:27 a.m. Concerns were raised on Greenwood Road by a suspect wearing a heavy cap and heavy coat and accompanied by a pit bull wearing a heavy chain. Man and dog seemed out of place in the neighborhood.
2/23/12 12:14 p.m. A subject is threatening to post photos on Facebook of the person who repossessed his car.
2/24/12 2:52 a.m. An ex-boyfriend is still texting to a woman, even after being told not to.
2/24/12 11:41 a.m. An outbreak of bad driving has occurred on Roosevelt Avenue and Washington Court. One driver left at a high rate of speed and ran a red light. Another driver tried to drive down a footpath.
2/24/12 5:50 p.m. A son's enemies are making threats against him via Twitter.
2/24/12 6 p.m. An ex-boyfriend is harassing a woman with phone calls and by trespassing on her residence.
2/24/12 6:48 p.m. A beggar on Eastridge Lane hurried away when he looked in a house and spotted a dog.
2/25/12 2:36 p.m. A man riding a bike down Collins Way was talking to himself, spitting and screaming.
2/25/12 4:05 p.m. A woman is being harassed by her ex-roommate while she is trying to get her things.
2/25/12 7:13 p.m. A woman locked out of her house keeps knocking but she can't get in, because the people inside are not answering the door.
2/25/12 10:40 p.m. An ex-boyfriend was sneaking into his ex-girlfriend's house at night in order to get his belongings. However, he was caught and removed from the location. He sent a friend to pick up the remaining items.
2/25/12/10:46 p.m. A strange male kept jumping in and out of a house, saying he was hiding from the armed guards. He was later transported to Barber Transit Center.
2/26/12 2:33 a.m. An ex-wife got drunk at a pub, then tried to drive home.
2/26/12 4:12 p.m. A 12 year old was chased at Cooks Butte Park by a man in a red hoodie and jeans with a chain wallet.
2/26/12 6:24 p.m. A man is seeking police help on getting back the change for an item he bought at a convenience store on Boones Ferry Road. He later threatened to hit the employee who took his money, an action which got him removed from the location.
2/26/12 9:17 p.m. A fistfight between two men threatened to become really violent when one of them began screaming about the possibility of a gun being drawn. The second subject was considered to be possibly suicidal and was taken to Emmanuel Hospital by officers.
2/27/12 11:42 a.m. Stairs at an apartment complex on Parkview Drive were spray painted in red with the word 'Meth.'
2/27/12 3:50 p.m. A driver was attempting to drive while reading a paper propped on the steering wheel. Meanwhile, a child was in a car seat.
2/21/12 8:46 a.m. A 'grandson' called to claim he had been in a car wreck in Beijing and asked a grandmother to send money. Instead, she called the police.
2/21/12 11:57 a.m. An unknown suspect has filed a tax return using a woman's social security number.
2/22/12 9:06 a.m. When a woman's tax return was rejected, she found that someone had already filed taxes using her social security number.
2/24/12 9:26 a.m. A Comcast account in Texas was opened in a local man's name. The suspect who opened the account claimed to be the man's son.
2/26/12 4:50 p.m. A woman's credit card is being used online.
2/27/12 5:30 p.m. Someone attempted to open a Century link account in a man's name.
