City Notes

LAKE OSWEGO READS — The city will kick off the year’s community reading program at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the library, 706 Fourth St.

This year’s honored author is William Stafford. The kickoff event will feature his favorite cake, music and the giveaway of 800 copies of Stafford’s “Ask Me” to library cardholders on a first-come, first-served basis.

COUNCIL OPEN HOUSE — The Lake Oswego City Council will hold an informal open house and reception next week to help shape goals and priorities for 2014.

Community members will be able to talk to council members in small groups about their ideas for issues, projects, opportunities and concerns for the calendar year at the event, scheduled for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the West End Building Willamette Room. The WEB is located at 4101 Kruse Way.

COUNCIL GOALS — The council will then hold a retreat to discuss goals and priorities from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 11 at the Holy Names Heritage Center at Mary’s Woods, 17425 Holy Names Drive, Lake Oswego.
