“Do we need to carry the original passenger car registration in the car or will a copy suffice? I am wary of keeping the original in the vehicle and one of our cars has multiple drivers so they each carry a copy of the registration in their wallets.”

A: Yes, a photo copy of the original passenger car registration is acceptable. A copy only becomes an issue if it misrepresents the original document or is altered in any way. A duplicate original can also be obtained through DMV for $5.
