OHSU first in nursing-midwifery, Lewis & Clark among most diverse law schools

Oregon universities hold their own against big name schools in the U.S. News rankings of graduate schools.

U.S. News & World Report, publisher of the Best Colleges rankings, released the 2015 U.S. News Best Graduate Schools rankings publicly on Tuesday.

Rankings are based on factors including: assessment scores by administrators and experts, test scores and enrollment. Schools sometimes shared rankings.

School of education

Among the top schools of education are: University of Oregon, No. 13; Oregon State University, No. 106; and Portland State University, No. 116.

University of Oregon is third on the specialty programs-special education list.

School of medicine

The top schools for research in the field of medicine include Oregon Health and Science University, No. 29, which also has a ranking of third on the top schools-primary care list and a ranking of fourth in the family medicine category.

School of nursing

Overall, OHSU owns the no. 7 spot and the University of Portland is No. 50. OHSU also is well ranked in several specialties: nursing-midwifery, first; nurse practitioner-adult, 13th; nurse practitioner-family, sixth; and nurse practititioner-gerontological/geriatric, fourth.

Health disciplines

OHSU is sixth in the physician assistant master’s category.

School of law

These Oregon schools are on the list of top schools of law: Lewis & Clark, No. 72; University of Oregon, No. 100; and Willamette University, No. 121.

Lewis & Clark’s environmental law program landed first (tied with Vermont Law School), and the University of Oregon is fifth in that category. In the legal writing program, the University of Oregon is ranked fourth.

Most diverse law schools

With a Hispanic population of 9 percent, Lewis & Clark is on the Most Diverse Law Schools list, which has percentages of minorities but not rankings.

School of engineering

Oregon State University is no. 78 overall and 10th in the field of nuclear engineering.

Best online programs

University of Portland claims the no. 23 spot on the list of best online programs-business.

Social sciences and humanities

In the psychology category, University of Oregon is no. 30 and OHSU is no. 52. PSU placed among the top public affairs schools: no. 46.

Best part-time Masters of Business Administration programs

Portland State University landed the no. 90 rank, and close by is University of Portland, no. 94.
