The future of the Lake Oswego Chamber of Commerce became clearer this Wednesday morning with the announcement that Chuck O'Leary has been named the chamber's new executive director and CEO.
The chamber board accepted the recommendation from the chamber's executive committee to hire O'Leary full-time beginning July 1. Until then, O'Leary will finish out his term as the chamber president.
O'Leary, who has been serving as the chamber president and defacto CEO since last July, has been instrumental in working with chamber staff and the executive board to strengthen the chamber financially and dramatically increase its bottom line in order to expand its array of services and programs.
O'Leary, who is the managing partner of Bankers Investment Services LLC in Lake Oswego, has a long history of community service and involvement in Lake Oswego and was honored by the chamber in 2011 with the Community Leader of the Year Award.
His list of activities in addition to the chamber include the Rotary Club of Lake Oswego; Arts Council of Lake Oswego; Lakewood Center for the Arts; Keep Lake Oswego Great, and numerous youth activities such as swim club, Little League and Cub Scouts.
