City of Lake Oswego offices will be closed on Monday in observance of Labor Day.

FARMERS MARKET (SEPT. 2): The Lake Oswego Farmers Market returns to Millennium Plaza Park on Saturday, with more than 80 vendors offering fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, cheeses, baked goods, hot foods, artisan products and nursery items. Live music, too. Hours are 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

ART STUDIO (SEPT. 2): On Saturday mornings, the focus is on art at the Lake Oswego Public Library (706 Fourth St.). Bring an art or craft project to work on, browse the library's collection of art and craft books, talk to other artists, explore art online or get technical help with projects and research techniques. Bring your own supplies or use the library's drawing supplies; no registration is required for the free gathering, which starts at 9 a.m.

VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION CONCERT (SEPT 3): Lake Oswego says "thank you" to its hundreds of community volunteers with Essential LO, a concert planned from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Westlake Park (14165 Bunick Drive). There'll be music by Ural Thomas & the Pain, food from a variety of vendors, a special tribute by the City Council and more. The concert is free and open to the public. CITY OFFICES CLOSED (SEPT. 4): All City Offices — including the library and Adult Community Center — will be closed on Monday for Labor Day, with two exceptions: The municipal golf course will be open from 6:30 a.m.-9 p.m., and the tennis center will be open from 6 a.m.-10 p.m.

LAKE GROVE BUSINESS ASSOCIATION (SEPT. 5): The Lake Grove Business Association will meet at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday at Babica Hen (15964 Boones Ferry Road). NINTH-ANNUAL PHOTO CONTEST: Amateur and professional photographers are invited to enter their best images in the ninth-annual City of Lake Oswego photo contest. There are seven categories, with prizes given to first-, second- and third-place winners. All winning photos will be included in a special photo exhibit throughout the following year, as well as on the City's website, in its HelloLO publications and in The Review. Entries must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8; contest winners will be announced in November.
