The City will host its 53rd annual Christmas Tree Lighting at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Bigelow Plaza (in the Safeway parking lot at Fifth Street and A Avenue).

CITY OFFICES CLOSED (NOV. 23-24): All City offices — including the library and the Adult Community Center — will be closed on Thursday to celebrate Thanksgiving. Exceptions: the municipal golf course will be open from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., and the tennis center will be open from 6 a.m.-10 p.m. City offices will also be closed on Friday, with these exceptions: the library will be open from 10 a.m.-10 p.m., the golf course will be open from 9 a.m.-6 p.m., and the tennis center will be open from 6 a.m.-10 p.m.

CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING (NOV. 24): The City will host its 53rd annual Christmas Tree Lighting at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Bigelow Plaza (in the Safeway parking lot at Fifth Street and A Avenue). Once the lights are aglow, participants will parade down A Avenue to Millennium Plaza Park for the lighting of the Millennium Tree, visits with Santa Claus and other holiday activities. ARTS & CRAFTS STUDIO (NOV. 25): On Saturday mornings, the focus is on art at the Lake Oswego Public Library (706 Fourth St.). Bring an art or craft project to work on, browse the library's collection of art and craft books, talk to other artists, explore art online or get technical help with projects and research techniques. Bring your own supplies or use the library's drawing supplies; no registration is required for the studio, which starts at 9 a.m.

PLANNING COMMISSION (NOV. 27): The Planning Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at City Hall (380 A Ave.). Details: www.ci.oswego.or.us/boc_pc/planning-commission-143.

WINTER ADVENTURING (NOV. 28): Adam Sawyer, author of "Best Outdoor Adventures Near Portland," will share a slide presentation at 7 p.m. Tuesday about some of the best winter adventures in the area. This presentation, which will be held at the Lake Oswego Public Library (706 Fourth St.), is free and open to all. CITY COUNCIL OPEN HOUSE (NOV. 29): The City Council will host an Open House at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the City's new maintenance center (17601 Pilkington Road) to gather public input in advance of the council's Jan. 6 goal-setting retreat. Members of the community are invited to drop in, visit with councilors in a relaxed, roundtable setting and share thoughts for the upcoming year.
