Lake Oswego Fire and Police Departments will hold their quarterly child safety seat clinic on Saturday

RIVER RUN PARK PLANTING (MAY 5): Beginning at 9 a.m., Friends of Trees will host the last in a series of large work parties held during the past three years to restore native plant species to River Run Park (19700 River Run Drive). This event will focus on mulching hundreds of native trees and shrubs to prepare them for the summer. Groups of five or larger are asked to register in advance at www.friendsoftrees.org/volunteering/group-registration.

CHILD SAFETY SEAT CLINIC (MAY 5): The Lake Oswego Fire and Police Departments will hold their free quarterly safety seat clinic from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the main fire station (300 B Ave.). Technicians will check each seat for damage, recalls, correct sizing and proper installation. An inspection takes roughly 30 minutes. For more information, call 503-635-0275.

DEVELOPMENT REVIEW COMMISSION (MAY 7): The commission will hold a meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the council chambers at City Hall (380 A Ave.).

PINTS FROM THE PAST: OREGON MILITARY (MAY 8): The Lake Theater & Cafe (106 North State St.) will host a talk focused on the state's military history from 6:30 to 8 p.m. featuring Oregon military historian Warren W. Aney. Admission is free and no tickets are needed. The Pints from the Past series is produced by the Lake Oswego Library in partnership with the Clackamas County Historical Society and the Lake Theater & Cafe. SIDEWALK POETRY CONTEST RECEPTION (MAY 10): The Old Town Neighborhood Association will announce the winners of a poetry contest from 6:30 to 7 p.m. at the Lake Oswego Library (706 4th St.). The contest was held to select three poems that will be engraved into sidewalk tiles in the Old Town Neighborhood. Over 80 poems were submitted by Lake Oswego residents.
